  • Subject: Invoke PC Access program from an AS/400

Hello all,

Here is my problem. I have a program on an AS/400 that is used to receive raw
material. Each time a reception is accepted, I must find a way to transfer it
to an access database located on an NT server. The transfer must be close to
real time because the material just received may be used in the following
minutes and the comsuption program is in access. I was planning to do the
following:
1- Add a trigger to the reception file to trap any changes
2- add the information that need to be transferd to a work file (or data queue,
or whatever)
3- have the AS/400 evoke a command on one PC attach to the AS/400
4- The PCcommand would be an access program to download the work file, add its
information to the data base and then clear the work file

My problem is with step 3. What are the possible alternative? what do you
suggest?
