well,

almost 30 years of "having been, done that....."
only means that you are  not old, but you are
terribly "overqualified".

I have had  quite a few interviews, ranging from
downright obnoxious  to plain stupid....

Not that long  ago I have been interviewed  to 
take charge of a huge mainframe to midrange conversion job
that included migration from COBOL'74 to RPG IV/ILE, etc..
and  count: have been interviewed by *12* persons  belonging
to IT.  Around  4 pm  I got fed up  with the show and asked 
young lady if they always did this kind of screening or
whatever, and she said, no, but there were  looking to an
"elegant way to tell me that I am too old ; TO BE A TEAM PLAYER??"

If you are over 40, I would say don't waste your time  trying
to get back to IT......

So, I ended up teaching Database Technology and Compilers at the
Computer Science Dept. of a local University
