This used to happen to us frequently on an old B20.  We were always runnign at
95%+, and occaisionaly the box would just die.  After a reboot we were back down
to 95%.

We finally decided that, because the AS/400 is a virtual machine, we were 
filling
up the remaining disk with memory PAGs that were being cached out of main 
memory.

Could this be your problem???
