I've worked with direct mail for a while, and one of the things that is true
with catalogs is that most companies are delighted to hear from people on
their mailing list who don't want the catalog.  (Long as there aren't too
many of them.) Knowing that someone will never buy anything from your
catalog is valuable information.  It is a bit cheaper to send an e-mail than
it is to mail a catalog, so maybe it's yetanother new paradigm.
