I don't know if it helps, but a few years back I had the experience of a UPS
that would go down every Friday around 6-7pm. It turned out that it was
protecting from an *overload*.  When the building a/c shutdown for the
weekend, there was suddenly excess voltage on the building's power grid,
causing the UPS to go on batteries. It took some harsh words to the UPS
vendor before they finally sent out an expert that put a monitor on the
power line and found the problem.
