Kirk,

Hmm, that is what my notes said too. So I tried another IPL, and sure
enough, it did say "3400". Time to attend a meeting of DAM (Mothers
Against Dyslexia)...

This is *very* helpful, even if a little disappointing. I bought the
unit for the disk drives. :(

However, knowing this much, I tried a normal IPL while tapping on the
drive to help coerce it to start. Eureka! I could hear each drive
start in succession, including the second, and the IPL continued
beyond where it previously hung.

I've been known to pull this trick on PC drives, but this is a first
for me with an AS/400 drive! This makes me suspect the drive is one
of those just recently talked about where you don't want to shut the
thing off.

At any rate, the normal IPL appeared to complete normally, except that
I don't have a console. I can't seem to get any of the 6141's ports
to respond regardless of comm settings. :(

I tried typing "..<CR>" repeatedly with each setting, since this
appears to be the preferred sequence to be used if the port is set to
auto-detect line speed, etc. I also tried <Esc> Ctrl+A (for a screen
refresh), and repeated <CR>'s.

Sigh.

Next I tried a manual IPL. It results in a A600 5004, which is a WS
controller failure. The full set of SRC's is as follows:

11-2 A600 5004
12-2 08B0 1160
13-2 0000 0020
14-2 0000 00FF

It did not list 15-2 to 19-2..

I'm presuming this means I have a problem with the 6141 too.
