Why do you want to update THREE logicals? Is there only one set of beg/end in 
each? Or do you need to use the preceeding/following record's beg/end for 
anything?
The simplest way is to do only a single UPDAT with all information. If needed 
you might open the phys in arrival seq. Retrieve the rrn from the logicals 
(remember to avoid blocking) and process this rrn.

PPS: I have never heard of any rule that a member of this list should have any 
ballance between Q's and A's. Remember that we are many that learns from others 
problems, reading BOTH Q's and A's. I could say 'Thanks for posting this 
question'.
