You just jogged my memory... they were in Appendix E of the CL Reference in
V?R?.  I know because I copied the entire appendix and I still have it!!
This was a long time ago though and I don't know if they are still in there
(don't have any manuals handy anymore).

I seem to remember (way back when) a list of the escape messages returned
for each command in an appendix of one of the CL reference manuals.  It may
have been in the CPF manuals of the '38, but I'm positive I remember seeing
this in print.
