Microsoft CE devices and CE services help

If anyone knows anything about the above, I am trying to load the CD on my
laptop for CE services so I can sync it to my HP Jornada 820, but when I try
to load the software onto my laptop I get an error saying that a previous
hardware or software add/remove did not complete and the system must be
rebooted before I can install the CE services software.  I have rebooted my
laptop 2 dozen times but the software thinks I still need to reboot and will
not let me install the software.  Anyone have any idea what is going on
here??? or where I can go for help.  Please contact me via private email at

nicely for those times when the laptop is not enough and the palm pilot is
not enough!
