Modem config. Check the dip switch settings on the modem. You need to ensure
the modem is set in the right mode. Can you post Line, Controller, Device
configs and modem type / model? I can confirm exactly what settings should be
then.

Subject: Connecting AS/400's SDLC PASTHR via Modem?

Hi All,

I am setting up a v.24 modem to dial another AS/400 for PASTHR. I have
created the line, Controller, and Device. When I vary-on the line with the
modem connected, it will go to connect pending and then fail and go to
RCYPND. I can not figure out what is going on. The message is as follows:

Message . . . . : Line UCFSLIN failed. Probable local modem problem.
(C G R)
    Cause . . . . . : The system is trying to build a session with a
remote
device and has received an error. This is probably a local modem
problem.

The error code is X'44001010': Data set ready (DSR) was active from
the
modem before the data terminal ready (DTR) was brought active by the
system.

I am unable to determine where the error is, the modem or my 400 configs.
If anyone knows of any manuals that I can use to look this up I would
greatly appreciate it. I haven't been able to find anything on this.
