Re: Format DASD?

As a side bar,

I understand that doing it that way would be about the same as
a PC deletes files, it wipes out the FAT table.  I'm just curious
about actually deleting the files.

I know that there is a DoD delete for PCs, which writes over the
actual data 3 times, once with all 0's, once with all 1's and again
with something like 10101 or such.

I was just curious if the AS/400 had something similar.  It is not
something I would ever need, but I know that the AS/400 at
security level 50 classifies as a very secure machine as far as the
DoD is concerned.
