Great commands. Between the DSPFFD and DSPOBJD I could determine the
original PF-DTA file was copied over from a library back in 1993. Neither
the original DDSSRC or the library exist anymore. I should mention this is a
test environment. Also, I only need three records in this data file.
Thanks,
Art

There are many methods of creating PF files. One is to
use CRTPF. This method has two sub alternatives. With
or without DDS. Try using the command DSPFFD against the
file. If you see more than one field than the CRTPF
command without DDS method was not used. If you do see
fields than either SQL was used to create the file, or,
the CRTPF command with DDS method was used. Use the
command DSPOBJD OBJ(lib/file) OBJTYPE(*FILE) DETAIL(*SERVICE).
If you see an entry under source file, usually lib/QDDSSRC,
then the CRTPF with DDS method was used. Dig out your DDS
manual, also available at IBM's web site. And start larnin'
fella. Backup the file before using the command CRTPF.
