Does an HPIIIs1 hardware even support duplex printing?

I'm able to print duplex and multiup on an IBM Network Printer 12....

Subject: Duplex printing on IP printer

Has anyone successfully printed duplex on an IP printer? I modified the
SMPXPRT tag in my cutomizing object to have the same values as DUPXPRT,
thinking that it would force all output to duplex. This did not work. The
target printer is an HPIIIsi. Thanks for your help.
