We have between 24 and 32 meg per printer.  We also autostart only 1 writer
per printer (on ther CRTOUTQ command) but I bumped up the Line printer
daemons to 8 in a failed attempt to resolve this problem.  The users can
also print to these printers via Win95 or AS/400.   

We are on Ethernet not Token ring.  The users can also print forms to these
printer (via FormsPlus (Jetforms)) from the AS/400.
