We don't seem to have the problem you describe.  We use Lexmark 2455's,
Token Ring, V4R2, V4R3, V3R2(I think).  We autostart one writer (per AS/400).
We also spool via Netware to same printers.  And some of us print directly to
the same printers with Win95 IP printing.  Each printer has 36MB memory to
allow lots of spool space on the printer itself.

What's the advantage of more than one writer per outq?

How much memory do you have on each printer?
