There are probably different ways to handle this requirement, but some
of our customers are using our Alliance TCP/IP product to do this. On
the web side they write a CGI application (usually in C) which opens a
socket connection to the AS/400. Our socket server receives the data and
puts it in a data queue. The user application reads the data queue,
updates the database, and puts the response in the return data queue.
The CGI application reads the socket and formats the data for the
browser.
