No, we do not have a server, just peer to peer connections.

 I type ftp on as400 command line
 I enter my password and userid
 I tried namefmt 1
 cd /qdls
 250 "/QDLS" is current directory.
 Then enter below

 get \\pc02\mydocu~1\tdiagts.prn /karl
 227 Entering Passive Mode (10,1,0,100,4,7).
 501 File name too long; limit is 8 characters: \\pc02\mydocu~1\tdiagts
