We have a CISC 300-2042 with an FSIOP and run LanServer/400 (5763XZ1).
We are _running_ Lanserver, but don't actually use it for anything. All
attached PCs are via ethernet and most file transfers to/from attached
PCs are via FTP.

Lanserver is not Y2K compliant, and since it is not actually doing
anything for us, I simply want to shut it down. A long time ago, there
were postings here about using the FSIOP as a LAN card only. Does
anyone remember where the info was to do this?

What I'm anticipating is:

1) Subsystem QSERVER must still run because it's a Client Access
thingie, right?

2) Attached Win95/98 PCs still need to "see" the IFS. It is subsystem
QSERVER that allows this, right?

3) If I don't vary on the FSIOP card, will attached PCs still function?
Is varying on/off the *NWS what does this? Since my ethernet line is
under this, how does that work?

If someone can point me to the Holy Grail of how to do this, I would be
very appreciative.
