Been there, done that.  This is probably an issue the mag would have to
take up with their printer, and I'd suggest making the complaint directly
to them. Maybe they can get the printer to use something closer to Post-it
glue instead of the rubbery cement.  FWIW, the glue will probably soften if
it's warm, making the removal easier and cleaner; if you have the
opportunity you could leave it in a warm room/car etc. before doing the
disssection. (Not sure that the heat good for the glue in the binding though.)
