Sorry it has taken me so long to reply.  The problems we've had with e-mail and 
using the AS400 as a pop server have to do with password caching, I believe.  
The message "unable to log on to mail server" will be displayed on a user's pc 
at intermittent times.  Sometimes I could track to password problems and other 
times not. I've used all the helpful hints I could find. We use Microsoft 
Outlook at the desk top.  The NT workstations appear to be stable, and I find 
we have very few problems with e-mail on them, but the windows 95 pc's are a 
different story.

making the move?  It really sounds like a change designed to fix something
that's not broke?
