Brad, et al,

There are two reasons -not- to trust someone:
1) they point to their credentials.
2) they point to their length of service.

Neither have anything to do with ability. Today.

If I got my MBA in 76 does that mean I know squat about the current
economic climate?

Even MS wouldn't hire Mr Gates. He doesn't have a degree
(credentials). Couldn't get past the recruiter!

You do bring up an interesting point, should an addition be made to your
business card like CDP88 to indicate the year of certification?

Although I don't see too many MBA76 or CPA84 or PHD63. And who has the
authority to "revoke" your certification once a new standard is
established?

The Harvard Business Review once stated that there is one thing that you
can be sure of when you have a degree ... you have a degree. A degree
tells a potential employer/client that you are willing to do whatever it
takes to reach a particular target. Maybe that is the value of
certification.

BTW, I got a gold star in penmanship in the 3rd grade. Does that still
count today? <G>
