Should we assume you are refering to "regular AS/400" as "native AS/400"? The
S/36 code can be run on the AS/400 right now.

S/36 to native AS400 is not a smooth transformation. (IMHO) Conversion
utilities can help (I don't recall which one we used), but they're not
completely fool proof. Ocationally it can take just as long to fix the
converted code as it does to completely rewrite it. (S/36 experience may be
required). Other times the translated code will run virtually untouched.

Can anyone tell me what is involved in converting an application that
runs in the System/36 on AS/400 application to a regular AS/400
application? Not to make it take advantage of the extra advantages of
AS/400 but just to run. Is this dead simple, or extremely complicated
or something in between? What would some of the issues be?

     TIA, Debbie Gallagher
