Well,,, yes you will have to change all, but that's nothing to do.. and
you do not have to recompile... How are you going to handle special
forms ?

The laser printers don't care if you change to new size, although you
might hear some squawking about the number of lines per page and it's
hard
to read,etc,etc...

I have use the "shorter" paper for years... But when you switch, you can
just
about bank on some major bitching until everybody gets used to new
format.

The 8LPI will be the biggest bitch... but once they get used to it, 
everything will be fine.

My system wide setting are: length=68
                            width =132
                            LPI=8
                            CPI=10
                            ovrflw=66

Now if you do ANY compressed printing(8lpi 15cpi 198) you will really 
hear the noise... That really gets to be a pain but maybe you don't
have to deal with that.

Remember special forms like checks,invoices,etc... you will need to
tweak the CL to handle overrides to that size form(if you don't
already).
