Don't fool with the  systems date on production  systems unless there are
super duper fail safes.

A second system with or without a date simulator is the  best way to go.
The simulator   should not be discounted because you have a second system -
- it will save  you  testing  cycle time as will  report &  DB comparators.

For many  that second system will become a must .If not  pre- 2K then
during or immediately post 2K
