Dear Benjamin,

Zebra printers are controlled with a text based language called ZPL (Zebra
Programming Language). You need to have an application on your AS/400 that
generates the appropriate Zebra commands along with AS/400 based variable data
to construct a label in the printer.

In order to activate the Zebra printer, it needs to receive a character called
a format character or a prefix character. The usual default for this character
is the caret (^).

I hope this information might be useful.

Best Regards,

/Paul

Subject: Zebra Z4000 to AS/400 attachment

Hi All,

Is there anybody who ever connected a Zebra Z4000 to an AS/400? We attached it
to an InfoWindow 3486. When sending a test page to the printer the data lamp is
blinking, but nothing prints. The printer works with NT, but we need to print
from AS/400. I don't know what kind of printer emulation and/or extra
configuration steps are needed in order to see the printed output.
Regards,

Benjamin Budai
