RE: Number of installed AS/400s

I wonder how many of these AS400 machines will be running after 12/31/99? I
know of one company that has an old AS400 that has not been upgraded in 10
years. They are just going to turn it off at the end of this year (they
already have another system setup).

I wonder, being the cynical person that I am, how many of those "installed"
AS/400s are still running.  Does this number include all AS/400s ever
installed, including ones that have been replaced by newer models and
subsequently discarded?  

And then there's the question of whether a single AS/400 can be counted
multiple times by being installed at one site, replaced by a newer model,
installed at another site, and so on.  

Don't get me wrong folks.  I'd like to believe that number, but the use of
the word "installed" rather than "operating" makes me very suspicious.
