I can personally recommend Sprint. I always got excellent service though it was
rarely needed. Other friends of mine also recommend UUNet, MCI WorldCom (though 
I
have heard less than positive things about their frame relay service but that's 
a
different story), Cable and Wireless and last but not least since it's
California, Pacific Bell. You will probably get the lowest rate from PacBell and
I have heard nothing bad about them. They use (what was) the IBM Global Network
for their 'Net interconnect. The other players mentioned own their own networks
and each carries a very large share of nationwide traffic. C & W's web site is
interesting. Take a look at it http://www.cwi.net. It purports to show real time
network monitoring stats. I have no personal experience with C & W though. Also
no financial interest in any of the listed companies.
