I don't believe that IBM should do anything of the sort, I'd much rather they
spend their money on the compiler.  Use it to code new stuff and wait for 3rd
party tools if you want to convert existing code.

When we did the original CVTRPGSRC it was deliberately done in a "minimalist"
fashion in the belief that 3rd parties would produce better tools and IBM could
spend its limited resource on the compiler itself.  The 3rd party tools have
appeared (including free ones from the mags) and will almost certainly be
modified to accommodate the desire of those who want to convert existing code
(in RPG III or RPG IV).

In my opinion, RPG IV was in some ways _too_ compatible with RPG III.  But I
accept that in order to gain acceptance it had to be that way.  Why carry old
baggage any further ?
