The cost of VRPG requires an initial investment too great to get started with.



I'm not sure I get your point since you can also download a version of VARPG for
free.  It cannot be used to deploy production code, but can be used on a
development system "forever".  You can find it at www.software.ibm.com/ad/varpg.
You can also download free Java from Sun and also VisualAge for Java Entry from
IBM.



ASNA's product can also apparently be downloaded (www.asna.com) but I don't know
how limited that version is.



I know RPG - I haven't used VB in a long time.  My point was that if you want to
learn event driven why not go with a language you know (RPG) or one that is
worth learning for the future (Java).
