You can use a workstation customization object to map any seldom used
keystroke so that it acts as a function key. I did something similar with a
couple of old 3180s that we use for public timecard inquiry kiosks. The
scanner documentation may also shed some light on the issue. I'm not sure
about the enter key. I know that we use 3 of 9 and we get an enter key if
we encode the leading and trailing asterisks in the barcode. In another
life, I was involved with some POS devices, and I vaguely recall that the
scanners were somewhat configurable, and could be set up to pass an enter key.
