We've been doing EDI with the 400 for years. Started out on the S/36. Been
using the same package. ACS/Premenos/Harbinger. I didn't realize they were
all that expensive. They weren't trying to sell you their GUI package were
they? For a batch process like EDI I see that as a zero value add. I like
their software and the documentation is great! Support is pretty good also.
They are trying to sell training now that Harbinger owns them. Unless you
can't read I don't see a use for it.

Subject: EDI Translator wanted

Can anyone make a recommendation for a low cost EDI translator?

The high prices of AS/400 translator's from Premenos and Sterling are
causing us to look elsewhere.

Customer needs to do 856 & 210 transactions right now, possible many more
transactions soon.

We would like to have a PC act as an "EDI Server" where we could put our
flat files into a network directory or shared folder, have the PC wake up,
translate it, and stick the translated file back out on the network.

Then our AS/400 could send the file on its way.
