    Be carefull.  While you basic statement below is true it is not
completely acurate.  Local TCP/IP in it's simple form does not require
routers, routes, logic networks, ect..  While as soon as you go "remote" you
need to get much more deep into the world on IP networks, Masks, Routes and
forwarding.  You no longer can use just Win/95  now you need another box
maybe NT with remote access enabled, maybe CITRIX with a 5250 client, Maybe
SHIVA as a dial access server, Ect...............

    But a flat network of say 172.17.100.0 Mask 255.255.255.0 defined on the
AS/400 and connected by a hub or cascaded hubs to a group of PCs will not
allow for remote connectivity. Additional configuration and support must be
done.
