When it comes to large volumes of data you may find it faster to save/restore
from tape.
I remember reading about a study that showed one situation would need 3 T1, (or
was that T3) lines
chugging on the same data at the same time to equal the speed of the
save/restore, including the courier time.

Subject: Large AS/400 data base file transfers

I've got a customer with a 2+GB file on the AS/400. They are trying to
transfer the file to another AS/400 on the network. SNADS appears to
reject the request due to size limitations. FTP 'hangs' after a long
time. The target AS/400 is brand new with lots of DASD and version v4+.
Any ideas or suggestions?
