There is an article in the March issue of Midrange Computing that 
describes the steps necessary.  The steps are:

Hi guys,

I have been trying to produce a comma delimited .txt file for a PC from a
physical file for a few days now, and the correct use of the CPYTIMPF
command escapes me.

So far I have been able to produce a Comma delimited file as a source
member of another physical file (padded with hard spaces in the comma
delimited fields I might add), but the ability to produce this file
directly into the QDLS file system has eluded me. All I get when I access
the file is a string of junky lookng characters.

I can't believe that I have to download the deimited file from a source
physical file, as the whole point of converting it before download will
have been lost, at least as I see it.

What I want to be able to do is produce a comma delimited file directly
into the QDLS folder system (or another file system if that's what it
takes) so that users can access it directly, or I can mail it to them in
it's final form.

So far all i have been able to ascertain is that the CCSID may have
something to do with how the file gets translated into characters the PC
can't use, but the use of this parameters seems obscure to me.

Ha anyone wrestled with this problem and how did they solve it ?

I am NOT INTERESTED in a commercial product at this stage, as the volume
doesn't warrant it at present.
