As I'm reading this I'm restoring a tape from a V2R3 machine onto a V4R3
machine. Restoring forward (to a later release) is always possible, with one
exception. To cross the CISC to RISC boundry with programs they must be
observable.

Subject: Restoring a V3R1 tape on V4R3

Is it possible to restore a tape saved with V3R1 on a
machine
running V4R3?

I know the other way around, V4R3 can only create tapes for
V3R2 and higher.

If it's not possible, are there any option other than
restoring/saving on an 'in-between' release?

Regards,
Matthias
