Sometimes the simplest things can generate gobs of code...

Let's see...  maybe make the field larger by 1 character, use a data structure
for that.

First character, put the attribute.  You can find these in the manuals, or if 
you
have the right type of terminal, you can turn on test mode and see the hex 
values
for the attributes.  For example, x'20' is standard green, x'21' is reverse
image.  You could define these as constants in your program.

Put the attribute in the first character and the rest of the data in the
remaining characters.

Now, to see if the field was reverse image when displayed, just check the return
of the field for the x'21' character.  This could be unique for each and every
subfile record.

Not my original idea, just an implementation of FCFC from printing.
