  • Subject: SUPPRESS-GO-AHEAD OPTION

Hi!
I am using a commercial Mac terminal emulator to establish a tn3270
connection with client's mainframe. Upon connecting, the system print
dialog is triggered.
A session trace revealed that negotiations proceeded as follows:

Server: IAC WILL SUPPRESS-GO-AHEAD
CLIENT: IAC DONT SUPPRESS-GO-AHEAD
Server: IAC WONT SUPPRESS-GO-AHEAD
CLEINT: IAC DONT SUPPRESS-GO-AHEAD
:
:
:
(standard Terminal-Type, Transmit Binary and EOR negotiations follow.
Terminal Type 3279-5-E is negotiated)

Has anyone seen this kind of thing before? There is something irregular in
the transaction that leads to the Print Dialogue to pop up but what is it?

RFC 858 deals with the SUPPRESS-GO-AHEAD OPTION but wasn't sufficiently
illuminating. Would someone please shed a little light on the matter? Where
can I get more information on the Telnet Go Ahead (GA) character? (and what
hex # is it?)

Cheers,
Gagan.
