questions:

1) Are there any big gotchas/bugs/problems?

2) Given that we have the same LIC on all machines are there any cons to
doing the full installation on the first AS/400, then running a full save
on that machine, and then slip install V4R3 from that tape(or duplicates of
that tape) onto the other machines?<

The biggest problem with the method that you suggest is:

1. data in your files
2. License keys from IBM would NOT match
3. QGPL objects that belong to LPPs
4. QUSRSYS objects that belong to LPPs
5. USRPRF changes

One reason the CISC to RISC is done the way it is done is because of those
objects. I would NOT recommend this method. I average installing release
of OS/400 about 50 times and find when you use short cuts one runs into
problems.
