 >> * Java applets generated from Visual Age for RPG source code.

Last night at the Toronto User Group meeting Claus Weiss (Toronto Lab)
passed on a couple more items for VARPG that I didn't know would be in the
upcoming release. On the Java front it includes the ability to instantiate
and use Java objects within the RPG code (they apparently hope to have
this in the future in the main RPG IV compiler). There is also the option
to use Java beans within the GUI designer and for the first time you will
be able to use OCXs as well.

Claus demo'd the Java build running in a browser and connected over a very
slow line - performance was very fast, although application startup was
very very slow. They realized this and are working at making the run-time
support operate as a browser plug-in so that the Java VM doesn't have to
download it all.

I have a driver on my machine and will report back here when I've had a
chance to play some.
