Well I can't help with all your questions but can take a stab at a
coouple.

I have a question for you all and if there were a manual I would check
it. I have a need for a tool(s) that does the following:

1. Decompile objects-RPG, CL (That's the easy one) .
For CL programs. As long is they are observable you can use RTVCLSRC.
For RPG I know there are programs that exist but you may need to
purchase them.

3. Compare Spool files. If I have 2 reports that are similar, is there
a way to compare for differences, even possibly getting them to a
database file first.

You must first create a Database file i.e with one 133 byte field and then
use
CPYSPLF to copy the spool files to the members. You may then use CMPPFM to
show any differences.
