  We have problems sometimes like the one you describe and it frequently is 
caused by a new WSOCK32.DLL being installed by a new program upstream in
your path on the PC.  Client Access needs a WSOCK32.DLL that is 65k in size, at 
least in our environment (Win 95 and Novell) this is the case.
