well, i've been throwing away old papers today, and happened to run across one
that was the May 1994 announcements for client server.  brought back memories!

it mentioned that the original server machines were announced in 1993.  then the
as/400 was repositioned as a client/server, in addition to an application server
machine.

the announcement discussed visual rpg, and other interfaces using obdc to
incorporate the gui interface.
