What? You've never heard of API, American Press Interational, the renowned
new sysndicate?

Just kidding. Actually API is a baseball statistic. API stands for Actual
Pitched Innings.

Hah! Kidding again.

API = Application Program Interface. One of the other gurus can probably
explain it better than me. What I know is that an API is code that performs
a specific, but commonly-used task, that you can incorporate into your program.
I believe an API is specific to the operating system and can be employed by
programs written in different languages if declared properly in the program.
I've used APIs in Visual Basic code in a MS Windows environment, and from
what I have gathered, with the advent of ILE, they are now on the AS400.
