     I think we go this a few years ago at one of my old jobs. The 
     control panel battery powers the real-time clock the AS400 uses to 
     set it's clock during IPL. I think you have to get a new control 
     panel as they can't just replace the battery.

Hi,
The following message appears in our job log:
CPI94D8        "Control panel battery either discharged or not connected"

It appears under APPENDIX1.2.2 QCPFMSG Messages with ALROPT(*DEFER)
in the OS/400 Alerts Support V4R1.  

What is the control panel battery?  
Could someone please explain what could be causing the message,
and what should be done?
