For most files, it's -=your=- decision which ones are temporary and which
are permanent.

The AS/400 organizes all of its objects into Libraries.  The objects
(including files) in some libraries are vital to the operation of the
AS/400 and should not be touched unless you understand 100% what they're
used for:

        QSYS    System library; contains the operating system &c.
        QGPL    Contains things helpful to the operating system:
                Output Queues, Job Queues, Job Descriptions, etc.
        QUSRSYS Similar to QGPL, but it's now the Library of Choice for
Output Queues,
                        Job Queues, Job Descriptions, etc.

        Other libraries beginning with "Q"
                Most of these libraries are things that are necessary to
the operating system: languages (RPG/COBOL/PC Support/TCP-IP).  The IBM
manuals have lists of the system libraries.
