For American's doing work in other countries I agree with what I
understand you to be saying here, mainly that we should also learn the
languages/cultures of our business partners when dealing there...  
And, yes, we could do ALOT better than we are doing in that area....  But,
I'm specifically refering to domestic functions and operations.

BUT, one of the best things I ever did was to vote for the state
constitutional ammendment in FL mandating a single language and that the
language be English.  

Allowing a polylingual official, such as our good neighbors to the north
have, would not imho be in the US's best interest.

And, I have to be careful how much more I yammer on this before Dave
ding's me for being off subject...:)
