One way we try to encourage our clients to allow us to work remotely is to
bill for travel time, even locally. There is certainly an opportunity cost
for me or any of our staff to sit on an airplane or in traffic. Most of
clients have been pretty agreeable. One thing I do find by going on site is
that it is instant "marketing". Off site does tend to be out of mind and I
find that the more often I visit the clients sites, the more I walk away
with new projects.

Subject: RE: Work remote

|If your on site at a desk or working from a home office with enough phone
|lines and a speaker phone so your reachable during the hours necessary
|what's the difference. Most of the time I could answer questions and
attend
|meetings without wasting the time going from one office to another. It's
|this closed minded "We want you on site so we know where you are" thing
that
|drives some of us nuts. Why is it ok for web developers, C++ programmers,
|etc. but not for RPG developers?
