Re: Upgrade V4R2 to V4R3

I just completed upgrading  V4R2 to V4R3. I kept close times on all of the
different processes that I did to complete the upgrade.
The AS/400 is a Model 500 2141, 200 meg of memory and  31 gig of aux
storage with 64% usage and an 8mm tape drive using tapes formatted at 5gb.

RCLSTG took 5 hours to complete. This was last done at the end of May 1998
when I went from V4R1 to V4R2.

SAVSTG  before  took 9.5 hours and 3 tapes.

GO SAVE option 21 took 6.3 hours an 2 tapes.

Actual conversion took 3.5 hours plus 1.5 hours to process the ptf cums. 

SAVSTG after took 9.1 hours and 3 tapes.

GO SAVE option 21 took  6.3 hours and 2 tapes.

The actual conversion wasn't that bad. Backup times really puts a crimp in
a quick conversion. Any suggestions on what type of tape drives I should
be looking for. Also I will be adding 16 gig of disk for future expansion
in the next couple of weeks.
