RE: AS/400 SMTP mail problems

It could be that the ISP handling the recipient address will not accept mail
from a domain name not registered with InterNIC, whereas your ISP doesn't
care and will gladly send it. The AS400 host.domain.com SMTP name structure
results in an unregisted domain name sometimes, unless you have specifically
registered the full name (not just the domain part). Not sure if this is the
reason, but it would account for why the same address can receive mail from
your non-AS400 e-mail system, but not from your AS400 system. The 'from'
address on your non-AS400 e-mail is probably just dsplink.com, whereas the
'from' address on your as400 is going to be hostname.dsplink.com.

Various ISPs handle this issue differently. It all has to do with spam
control.
