MULIC/FULIC is not part of a OS/400. It is considered a part of system
hardware.
This piece of code (microcode) is written once on load source drive and
lives there.
But no function on system ever saves MULIC/FULIC (even SAVSTG).

So it's important to always keep MULIC/FULIC tape for possible load
source repairs.

Disclaimer - all above relates only to CISC systems. RISC AS/400
processor is all hardware and does not require any microcode - hence no
MULIC/FULIC.
Also some small CISC boxes don't need it - lowest 9402/200 processor,
x02 models.

    Best regards,

          Alexei Pytel
